Karl Fritsch & Jaime Jenkins

Karl Fritsch is a contemporary jeweller based in Wellington Te Whanganui-a-Tara. He was born in Bavaria, Germany and was classically trained at the Goldsmith’s College in Pforzheim, then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He has exhibited extensively, presented guest lectures around the world and his work is held in private and public collections internationally, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, The Pinakothek of Modern Art in Munich, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, The Victoria and Albert, London, and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
Fritsch has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including finalist in the prestigious Loewe Foundation Craft Prize (2024), the Herbert Hoffman Prize from the International Craftsmen Trade Fair in Munich and the jury-selected Francoise van den Bosch Award (2006). Fritsch moved to New Zealand with his family in 2010. He has been represented by The National since then.
Jaime Jenkins is a Tauranga Moana-based artist who creates hand-built ceramic works and installations. Having graduated from Toi Oho Mai with an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art, she has gone on to develop a unique 3-dimensional visual language that explores form and environment.
Jenkins has undertaken internships with Laurie Steer and Francis Upritchard and has participated in multiple residencies. She was the 2022 recipient of Dame Doreen’s Gift from the Blumhardt Foundation, and her work is represented in numerous private collections and public collections such as Te Papa Tongarewa – Museum of New Zealand. Recent exhibitions include Aotearoa Art Fair, Pah Homestead, and a major collaboration with Séraphine Pick for Te Uru. She is represented by Jhana Millers.
